Celadon Lotus Brush Washer, Longquan-Style Glaze

Where the Ink Goes to Clear Its Name — A brush washer (bi xi) is where a writing session ends: swirl the loaded brush in clean water, watch yesterday's black bloom into grey clouds, press the bristles against the rim, and hang the brush to dry. This celadon lotus bowl makes that small ceremony worth keeping.

What You Get

• Celadon lotus-form brush washer, no drainage hole

• Porcelain with celadon glaze, embossed lotus petal relief

• Two sizes: small ~11cm / large ~16.5 cm; optional fitted base

• Weight: 35g

The Glaze Is the Argument

Celadon was developed a thousand years ago to make porcelain look like jade — a soft grey-green that flatters whatever it holds. Water in a celadon bowl looks deeper than it is; ink clouds in it look like weather. It is the most quietly flattering surface a brush washer can have.

Not Just for Calligraphy

No drain hole, wide mouth, watertight glaze: it works equally well as a bowl for a single floating camellia, a large sauce dish, or a desktop catch-all for paperclips. The lotus shape fits naturally in every use.

How to Use

Half-fill with clean water before writing. Swirl your brush, press bristles gently on the rim, then blot on scrap cloth. Refresh the water once the ink clouds turn dark — that is all the upkeep needed.

Care

Rinse and wipe clean after use. Ink will only stain glazed celadon if left unattended for weeks. Not dishwasher-safe, not microwave-safe.

A Note on Variation

Celadon glaze pools into richer green where it thickens, so each lotus petal carries subtle shading from rim down to the base. Every piece will have its own unique tone variation.
