Lotus Tea Tray with Hidden Reservoir — Draining Slats
$57.00
A tea tray shaped like a lotus leaf, slatted so spills slide into a hidden reservoir underneath. It takes the wettest part of gongfu tea — every warming pour and rinse — and makes it nothing to think about.

Lotus Leaf Tea Tray | Gilded Rust Glaze
Where the Water Goes
Gongfu tea moves water constantly: warming pours, first rinses, splashes from a full pitcher. This lotus-leaf tray works in two ways. Use it as a dry display platter, or as a reservoir tray to catch rinse water. Choose hidden water storage for small tables, or attach the drain hose for continuous outflow. One tray, two ways to brew.
The Form
Carved lotus leaf veins run across the surface with crisp, defined detail. The organic, freeform shape feels understated and graceful, rooted in traditional tea aesthetics. No over-the-top ornament — quiet, timeless form for your tea space.
The Glaze: Gilded Rust
This tray is finished in our signature gilded rust glaze. Formulated from iron‑oxide‑rich base glaze, it flows naturally at 1300°C. Kiln firing creates spontaneous kiln transformation: streaks, speckles and subtle metallic shifts emerge across the surface. Each piece arrives with a unique irregular finish in deep brown, rust and muted gold tones. The rugged ceramic texture carries a weathered, vintage calm; no two trays are identical.

Materials, Plainly Stated
High-fired ceramic with gilded rust kiln glaze. The raised carved leaf surface elevates cups clear of standing rinse water. Two drainage modes:
Reservoir mode: Keep the brass plug closed. Water collects inside; lift the tray and empty when finished.
Hose drain mode: Remove the plug, attach the silicone tube and run it to a sink for continuous drainage.
How to Use
Set your teapot and cups onto the carved lotus leaf surface. Pour rinse and warming water freely; it flows off the sloped carving into the lower basin. For reservoir use: empty all water after each tea session. For hose drainage: position the tray near a sink before connecting the tube.
Care
Rinse with warm water only. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners that will dull the glaze finish. Dry fully after use to prevent tea tannin buildup and mould. The rustic colour variations, speckles and subtle flow marks are natural kiln effects, not defects.
A Note on Natural Kiln Variation
Every tray is one of a kind. High-temperature kiln transformation means colour distribution, gold flecking and glaze flow will differ slightly between pieces. This handcrafted irregularity is the character of gilded rust glaze.
